I was at one of my favorite new coffee shops in Boise last month. The owner is a young guy who has made an art form out of coffee – roasting the beans, fiddling with different grinds, pressing the shots, and every other part of the art and science of really great coffee.
As I sometimes do, I autographed a copy of The Creative Cure book with the inscription, “If you picked this book up, you’re an artist!” and left it on the table.
A few days later, my girlfriend stopped in to find the owner’s mother reading it and introduced herself.
Cindy (that’s the owner’s mother) said, “I can’t believe I’ve never thought of myself as an artist.” Pointing to a row of beautiful mugs on the shelves nearby, she said, “I just make these. Now I think that I might actually be an artist!”
When I returned to visit the shop later that week, Cindy was there.
We talked for a while and I asked about the mugs. As she showed me her workwomanship, I started feeling excited. I’ve wanted to have exactly this sort of mug made for our creative communities!
“Can you make some of these for me? I know people will love them.”
“Of course!” she said.
But we had to hurry because I wanted them in time for gift-giving. So, Cindy promised to do her best.
And here we are. I am so pleased to offer you these original creations by a local artist.
This is our first-ever run of handmade mugs, so please be patient with the order and shipping process. Each of these mugs is slightly different because they are all made by a real human, one at a time. We will sell through this limited batch and then allow backorders.
