Braiding Sweetgrass
Posted by SusanW on August 27, 2024 at 10:45 amHello Friends! I’ve missed you all over the summer!
Any news on when we want to start back up again?
I have made a commitment on Thursday September 19th, but other than that my Thursdays are all for YOU! 💖
I could also do Tuesdays, Fridays, or some Saturday afternoons, if Thursdays aren’t working for everyone.
Love and Books!

Thank you, Susan! Wednesdays and Thursdays would work best for me as I have previous commitments Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. I so enjoy our time together and look forward to seeing everyone again soon! 😊❤️
-
I am editing/adding to my response as I realized that I too am available on Saturdays as well. 😊

Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays are best for me.
The reply button caused me to reply to you, Meredith, but I meant to respond to Susan’s original request.

My Ladies! I have never had a busier summer, and I have never looked forward to fall as much as I do now. I am so excited to dig into this book with everyone! Because it’s the kick off of our new Book Club season, I’d like to have as many of us be able to attend as possible. How does Thursday, Sep 26 work for everyone?
Susan, thanks so much for taking the initiative with this forum, and I hope we can get a day that works good for everyone. Talk soon!-
Thursday the 26th works for me! I’m excited to see you all!
How much should we read for our first meeting?
Hugs!
-
Yes, Thursday the 26th works for me. I can’t wait to see you all again and dive into this book! 😊
-
Perfect! Let’s shoot for Thursday, Sep 26 as our Fall Book Club kickoff and we can decide if we want to do weekly, bi-weekly, etc moving into October. Mylene will update the Member Sessions with the joining link and I can’t wait to see everyone.
Let’s at least read Skywoman Falling from the first section, and consider these questions for discussion:- How does the story of Skywoman compare to the other stories of Creation?
- What gifts do you feel you can offer Mother Earth?
- What creates a strong relationship between people and Earth?
-
Sorry I’m late to the party. I’ve been distracted by kittens. I’m so excited to see all of you and jump into another book together! See you on Thursday.
-
I am so looking forward to this! I’ve missed our sessions too and am excited to start reading a book that’s been gathering dust on my shelf for far too long.
-
-
I love this book. I read it several years ago. I will join in when I can. I have a fundraising dinner on the 26th and am not likely to be able to join in that night. Glad to see that book club is back!
-
I posted to the News feed about a review of “Braiding Sweet grass” written months ago for Annapolis Quaker Meeting. Here it is again in case you missed it.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m loving the book and I can’t wait to share the time with everyone. See you soon!

Looking forward to seeing you all in a couple of hours. I’m excited and I can’t wait to go on this adventure and ride the ride with you all! ❤️
-
I unfortunately will not be able to join you all this afternoon. I will catch you all next week.
-
-
Very sorry to miss yesterday’s Book Club session. I forgot to put all the sessions on my calendar last week. I will catch up on reading and see you all next week!
-
We missed you! These sessions have become so important and I’m grateful for everyone of them. I hope to see you this Thursday!🙏
-
Hello Friends! I’m sadly not going to be able to make it tonight. All is well, I just need a little extra rest. Love to you all!

We’ll miss you, Susan. Take care of yourself. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. ❤️
-
Susan, sorry to hear that you need to rest. Glad to hear that you are looking after yourself and allowing yourself the rest you need instead of pushing through. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

-
@susanw Sorry to hear you need some extra time. Take care of yourself and hope to see you next week.
I missed last night because I had a doctor’s appointment and I also got a job and have been frantically getting all my paperwork done so I can start it on Monday.
-
Woo hooo!! I’m so happy for you. This has been something that has been resting heavy on our minds and I’m so grateful that this point of concern has been removed for you!
-
Hey y’all, are we wanting to handle this next section of the book like we just did with the first? Like read the first three “chapters” from Tending Sweetgrass for the first week. Then the other two “chapters” for the second week?
-
Pretty much. We’re in the next section, so read what you can and we’ll get through the section over the next two Book Clubs, but there isn’t a set number of pages that need to be done.
-
Thank you Nate! I’ll get through what I can. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of hours… I am loving this book! 😀

Replying to Teresa here: Got Job! Yay, Teresa, congratulations.🎉
-
Congratulations Teresa! I hope it’s a great fit for you! ❤🎉

Sorry, folks, but I need to skip this one. Book indexing deadline looming . . .
-
-
Sorry all…I missed today simply because my calendar reminder did not ding and I got caught up with learning stuff for work. I fully intend on being there next week! I made sure I get a couple of reminders now that I am back to work. 😊 Missed you all!
-
Friends, I’m sorry to say this but I’m not going to be able to make it tonight. I am exhausted, and need to just go to bed. I know it’s only 7pm here on the east coast, but that’s very close to bedtime for me. I love you all, virtual hugs, I hope you’re all doing what’s best for you.

Are we meeting tomorrow? I don’t see a new link posted and I missed last week’s discussion so I’m out of the loop!
Hugs!
-
Susan, this is my question also. Our last session on Nov. 7 was led by Jacob because Nate could not attend. I haven’t seen any additional book club sessions added since then.

Hello @susanw and @joanne-sprott ,
I hope all is well with you both! Nate’s “Braiding Sweetgrass” book club resumes next month. 😃 What we have this week is Mere’s Show+Tell at 3pm CST on Sunday (Nov. 17th), for which an email reminder was sent out this Monday to all the members. I hope you received it! 🙏
Thanks,

My Ladies!
I think we had too many things stacking up with the holidays in the mix so we decided to keep it lighter in the month of November. I’m sorry I got delayed last week because I was so wishing to see everyone, but Jacob said you all had a great time together. We’re finalizing the calendar for December and will get those sessions posted ASAP. Blessings to you!-
Thanks for clarifying the schedule, Nate. I was surprised not to see a link for tonight. I’ll miss seeing everyone this month, but look forward to reuniting in December. Maybe I’ll get caught up on the reading by then!😊❤
-
Thanks for the update, Nate! As Tracy points out, it’s also a great time to catch up on the chapters. It’s a really great, contemplative look at life, really.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in December, and so thankful for all of you even before Thanksgiving (and also after!).
-
-
Thank you, Nate! Looking forward to meeting up again. Yes, it was really good to meet up with Jacob. As it is always really good to meet up with everyone. May everyone have a blessed thanksgiving. If and/or how ever you choose to celebrate. See you all soon! 🤗
-

I had sure hoped to join you all tonight, but my fragile brain is just fried. I am sorry. Maybe next week.

We’ll miss you! I’m glad you’re taking good care of yourself ❤

Hey y’all, I’m in the midst of a multi-transportation adventure back to the city. I’m hoping to make it back for bookclub in a little while. If I can make it, I might be a little late. If I am unable to make it, I’m thinking about you all and wishing everyone Happy Holidays! ❤️
-
I am also probably missing tonight. I had two doctor’s appointments today that pretty much killed my head. Maybe after the holidays. Happy Holidays everyone.
-
Looks like complications are multiplying. I need to have a chat with a good friend who needs my help at the moment. Hope I can still make it, but might be late. Fingers crossed!
