Thanks Nathan for clarifying how many chapters we are to read by Thursday. Three is doable! I did have one other quick question. Where do we find the PDF that explains/describes the four different characters? thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone this Thursday!

Desiree, you are so smart and wise! I think if you apply those strengths in whatever your endeavors might be, you are sure to succeed. I don’t know if I will be successful either. My eulogy was kind of my mind snowballing into major wish fulfillment.
Your idea that getting in with the wrong crowd is what might ruin one’s character is spot on. And staying in contact with people who knew you prior to one’s success sounds like good advice too! Thanks for all your input on this “juicy topic”! Hope to see you at the next book session!!

Hi Tracey!
You are absolutely right that how you feel inside is important. More important than what one achieves or accomplishes in an external sense. One of the exact things that somtimes holds me back from writing is the worry that any kind of success might ruin my character. I’ve seen that happen with at least 2 of my writing teachers and coaches. So if my friends (or my own conscience) tell me that I’m getting too big for my britches, I’m planning on bringing myself back down to the earth by cleaning the house, cleaning the toilets out real good, and any other activities that might be humbling. Thanks for bringing this issue to light.

Thanks Desiree for your sweet post! The first part made me laugh. I will tell everyone that I know Desiree from a book club we are in when you’re famous!
I had trouble writing it at first too. So glad mine inspired you. Keep at it! Hope to see you at the next book club session!

I hope it’s ok for me to post this here but I wanted to share what I came up with when I did the Eulogy exercise. It’s seemin more like a 5 year plan than anything else but here it is. It’s pretty short. I might have gotten a bit of a swelled head writing this, but it was a bit intoxicating to imagine a positive and impactful future!
LESLIE LEVY
Leslie Levy was best known as the author of The Peace Project, a novel that was the culmination of over 5 years of research into the origins of human connection, a multidisciplinary study of what brings people together and what pushes people apart. Translated into 7 different languages, it was published in 2028, when book clubs and discussion groups sprung up all over the US, leaving a permanent imprint on the minds and hearts of its readers. Young people, including the author’s own daughter, began to bring some of these ideas into the political arena as well. Its impact can still be felt around the globe 20 years later. Leslie went on to publish 7 other books, 3 of them bestsellers.
Her writing also inspired her own family so much, that they began using some of the wisdom and principles from the Peace Project within their own personal interfamilial dynamics. And it worked like a charm. Her daughter and grandchildren have continued this legacy and report that they have never been happier.

Hi Nate and all you soon-to-be heroes! I have a quick question. I’m not sure I’m posting this in the right spot, but are we supposed to write our Eulogies prior to the book club meeting this Thursday? Thanks!
-
I was wondering the same thing as Sadie. Are we starting our discussion group today at 4:00 pm PT or not until the 6th of April? Thanks!

Hi Nate,
I’m sorry I won’t be able to join the discussion at 4:00 today. I’m about 200 pages behind and I don’t think it will make much sense to me if I’ve been unable to finish the reading. I’m sorry! I was really looking forward to this but I got caught up in life’s inevitable have-tos. I will continue to read though, as I think this is really brilliant stuff! Enjoy and have a great discussion!

Hi Nate or Jacob,
I know this is a little late in the game to be asking this, but I too am wondering if I might be able to access the replay of the July 20th session? Unfortunately, I’ve fallen a bit behind in my reading and watching the replay might really help me to get up to speed. Quick question: Even if I’m not able to complete the reading by the last session this Thursday, I’d like to still listen live, is that okay? This seems like such important stuff to learn, I’m really regretting missing that last session! Thank you, Leslie

Hi Lisa,
So sorry you’ve missed the book club meetings! I’m not sure if this will help (you might want to direct your question to Nate to be sure) but if you are logged in you should be able to click on the menu (the lines in the upper left corner) and then events. The Hero on a mission book club meeting will come up and if you click on it I think there is a link there. But the next meeting on June 1st isn’t up yet since it’s still May. I’m not sure if this helps, I hope it did! Maybe you will get some other responses too. Hope to see you at the next one!

Thank you, Nathan. I will try my best to make it, but will certainly catch the next one if I can’t get back in time.

Hi, I just wondered if the book club meeting this afternoon will be recorded? I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks and I’m really bummed but may have to miss some of it. Will it intrude too much if I have to come a little late? Or should I just wait until the next one or catch the recording?
